Job Description

**Title**: Agriculture Assistant

**Location**: Leamington, Ontario Canada

**Role:**
The Agriculture Assistant is responsible for supporting activities of the Heinz Seed breeding program located in Leamington Ontario, including but not limited to seeding, transplanting, plot upkeep, field sampling/data collection, seed harvesting, hybrid crossing and other seasonal and general duties in the Leamington winter greenhouse.

**Responsibilities:**

- Perform greenhouse crop upkeep task including pruning, clipping, and tying up of plants.
- Assist in tomato hybrid crossing in the greenhouse and field
- Assist in seasonal operational tasks, such as seeding, transplanting, weed control, picking tomatoes for testing and seed data collection.
- Assist in special projects as needed

**Qualifications:**

- High school diploma
- Agriculture experience is an asset
- Computer skills including a knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to analyze, solve problems, organize, communicate effectively, perform duties as requested and work as a team are required in this position.
- Possess an extreme level of detail and accuracy
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time under different weather conditions.
- Must have valid driver’s license (full license)
- Legally eligible to work in Canada

The starting hourly wage for this role is $22/hr CAD
