Job Description
<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Transport patients, equipment, lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts within the hospital</li>
<li>Distribute and replenish hospital supplies across units</li>
<li>Clean equipment and patient care areas as directed</li>
<li>Report safety or supply concerns to Unit Managers</li>
<li>Perform other duties as required</li>
</ul>
<h3>Required Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Grade 12 or equivalent</li>
</ul>
<h3>Additional Required Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Current Heart & Stroke Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)</li>
<li>Acute care experience within the past 2 years</li>
<li>Self-motivated with ability to prioritize and organize workload in a busy patient care environment</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in both oral and written English</li>
<li>Physical capability of performing all aspects of the role (bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, overhead lifting, pushing and pulling)</li>
<li>Ability to walk/stand for long periods and lift 22.5 kg, or assist in lifting up to 157.5 kg on a regular basis</li>
<li>Verbal, numerical and clerical abilities; visual and auditory acuity; motor coordination; eye-hand coordination</li>
<li>Reliable, cooperative, and able to demonstrate a positive service attitude; able to accept supervision and follow instructions</li>
</ul>
<h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Emergency experience within the past 2 years</li>
<li>Connect Care training</li>
