In this role, you'll assist with legal research, drafting, file management, and client strategy. Ideal candidates will bring solid courtroom exposure, strong writing skills, and the ability to think critically about how to move files forward. <p>We are a general practice boutique law firm located in a heritage building on Uptown 17th Avenue SW.</p>
<h3>About the Role</h3>
<p>You will take an active role in managing litigation files, supporting senior counsel, and engaging with clients throughout the life of a matter. This role is ideal for a lawyer who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and ready to take initiative. Someone who can work independently but values collaboration and clear communication.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Independently manage and progress litigation files</li>
<li>Analyze legal issues, assess risk, and propose strategic solutions</li>
<li>Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements</li>
<li>Attend hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings</li>
<li>Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, counsel, and the court</li>
<li>Provide general counsel and practical advice under the guidance of senior counsel</li>
<li>Engage in active billing and time management</li>
<li>Ensure use of up-to-date legal precedents and awareness of changes in the law</li>
<li>Participate in internal collaboration and team development</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta</li>
<li>Minimum 5 years of relevant litigation experience (civil or commercial litigation, or regulatory proceedings)</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written advocacy skills</li>
<li>Strong legal drafting and problem-solving abilities</li>
<li>Professional, ethical, and organized</li>
<li>Ability to manage deadlines, client expectations, and evolving litigation strategy</li>
<li>Confidence to take initiative and manage tasks with minimal oversight</li>
<li>Team-oriented with a willingness to collaborate and support others</li>
</ul>
