We bring a holistic approach to traffic management, safety infrastructure, and urban mobility; always prioritizing safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.</p><p><br /></p><p>JOB SUMMARY<br /></p><p>Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety, theHealth & Safety Advisor provides guidance, coaching, and support to ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and best practices while helping to build a strong safety culture. The Health and Safety Advisor work closely with management, employees, and external stakeholders to identify hazards, reduce risks, and promote safe work practices across all operations.</p><p></p><p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Facilitate orientation, onboarding, and ongoing H&S training.</li><li>Lead or participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings.</li><li>Conduct site inspections and audits (including night/weekend visits).</li><li>Prepare health, safety, and environmental reports.</li><li>Review <span >incident/inspection</span> reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented.</li><li>Develop, implement, and maintain safe work practices, job hazard analyses, and safety documentation.</li><li>Advise and coach <span >managers/supervisors</span> on H&S compliance and best practices.</li><li>Conduct or support investigations of safety incidents/issues.</li><li>Support WSIB claims management and return-to-work initiatives.</li><li>Maintain company emergency equipment inventory (first aid kits, extinguishers, etc.).</li><li>Contribute to continuous improvement of the HSE program and support accreditations (e.g., COR, ISO 45001).</li><li>Engage in industry <span >associations/benchmarking</span> to stay current with best practices.</li><li>Perform other H&S duties as assigned.</li></ul><p></p><p>Knowledge & Experience</p><ul><li>3-5 years of progressive experience in Occupational Health & Safety, ideally in construction.</li><li>Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and related Industrial & Construction Regulations.</li><li>WHMIS, fall protection, traffic control, PPE, machine guarding, cranes/lifting devices, first aid, fire protection, emergency response, noise standards.</li><li>WSIB claims processes and workers compensation legislation.</li><li>COR (Certification of Recognition) and ISO 45001 standards.</li><li>General safety management systems and best practices in <span >construction/industrial</span> environments.</li><li>Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).</li></ul><p></p><p>Skills</p><ul><li>Strong communication and presentation skills.</li><li>Coaching and training delivery.</li><li>Report writing and documentation.</li><li>Organization and time management.</li><li>Analytical thinking for hazard identification and incident review.</li><li>Stakeholder engagement and relationship-building.</li></ul><p></p><p>Abilities</p><ul><li>Influence and foster a positive safety culture across diverse teams.</li><li>Work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Lead investigations and drive corrective actions to resolution.</li><li>Engage confidently with employees, management, and external stakeholders.</li><li>Stay current with emerging trends and apply them to workplace practices.<br><br></li></ul><p>Physical Demands</p><ul><li>Ability to access and work on construction sites in all weather conditions.</li><li>Traverse rough/uneven terrain.</li><li>Attend occasional nighttime and weekend site visits.</li></ul><p></p><p>Work Environment</p><ul><li>Primarily field-based with office locations in Hamilton, Bradford, Creditstone, and Mississauga.</li><li>Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.</li><li>Interaction with employees, managers, and external stakeholders.</li><li>Office-based tasks (reporting, documentation, training prep) balanced with fieldwork.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>Education</p><ul><li>Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, HSE Management, Safety Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).<br><br></li></ul><p>Certifications</p><ul><li>CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional), NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer), or equivalent (asset).</li><li>COR (Certification of Recognition) support experience (asset).</li><li>ISO 45001 certification support experience (asset).</li><li>Valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record.</li></ul><p><br />Our Culture<br /></p><p>We are a global leader in road safety infrastructure, made up of a diverse collection of successful business units all supporting the same goal, keeping road users safe.
