<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><strong>Geotechnical Engineer – Vancouver Island<br /></strong><br /> <em>Courtenay, BC</em><br /> <em>Up to $120,000 (depending on experience)</em><br><br> Our client, a well-established multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm with multiple offices across British Columbia, is seeking a <strong>Professional Geotechnical Engineer (P.Eng.)</strong> to join their growing team on Vancouver Island. This opportunity is ideal for a registered (or eligible) P.Eng. with a strong geotechnical background and at least 5 years of post-licensure experience.<br><br> This firm supports a wide range of public- and private-sector projects including land development, infrastructure, forestry, utilities, and resource-based industries. The successful candidate will be based in the <strong>Courtenay office</strong> and join a collaborative team that values technical excellence, practical solutions, and a positive, supportive work environment.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong><br /><ul><li>Conducting geotechnical investigations including fieldwork, analysis, modelling, and reporting.</li><li>Preparing geotechnical designs and documentation for a range of projects (residential, commercial, industrial, municipal, etc.).</li><li>Mentoring and guiding junior engineers and technical staff.</li><li>Participating in site visits, including field reviews and inspections during the design and construction phases.</li><li>Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and providing geotechnical expertise across various sectors.</li><li>Contributing to proposal writing and client engagement efforts.</li></ul><strong>Ideal Candidate Will Have:</strong><br /><ul><li>P.Eng. registration (or eligibility) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) in civil or geological engineering.</li><li>A minimum of 5 years of relevant geotechnical experience.</li><li>Proficiency in slope stability analysis, geotechnical investigations (drilling/test pitting), and foundation design.</li><li>Familiarity with geotechnical modelling software (e.g., slope stability or pile analysis tools).</li><li>Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.</li><li>A positive, client-focused approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li><li>Willingness to travel for short field assignments (typically 2–3 days; occasionally up to 1 week).</li></ul><strong>What’s in It for You:</strong><br /><ul><li>Competitive salary up to $120,000 (based on experience).</li><li>Flexible work arrangements and a balanced, supportive work culture.</li><li>Comprehensive benefits package including extended health, vision, dental, and RRSP matching.</li><li>Relocation assistance if moving to Vancouver Island.</li><li>Excellent opportunities for career progression and ongoing professional development.</li><li>Exposure to interesting, diverse projects across multiple sectors.</li></ul></p></p>Browse Jobs in Canada by City
