<p>Title: Estimator (Residential Home Builder)</p><p>Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Benefits</p><p>Status: Permanent, Full time</p><p>Location: Calgary, Alberta</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>1. Estimating & Procurement Leadership</p><p>Oversee all day-to-day estimating activities, including cost modelling, bid preparation, and</p><p>budget development.</p><p>Supervise and mentor Coordinator(s)/Estimator(s), ensuring accuracy and timely submission of</p><p>quotes.</p><p>Lead tender processes and negotiate pricing with trade partners and suppliers.</p><p>Create and administer purchase orders and change orders, approving invoices weekly.</p><p>2. Design & Client Coordination</p><p>Liaise with Interior Designers and clients to scope selections, price options, and refine</p><p>renovation designs.</p><p>Guide clients through the design and change-order process, presenting specifications and</p><p>budgets clearly.</p><p>Attend site and design-presentation meetings to translate client needs into actionable scopes of</p><p>work.</p><p>3. Contract & Budget Management</p><p>Draft, review, and execute all renovation agreements, specifications, and client change orders.</p><p>Monitor project budgets and cost-to-complete reporting; identify and address variances in real</p><p>time.</p><p>Partner with Project Managers to deliver projects on time and on budget, providing monthly</p><p>financial updates.</p><p>4. Team Development & Training</p><p>Recruit, train, and develop your direct reports (Coordinator, Estimator, Designer), leading</p><p>regular performance reviews.</p><p>Foster a culture of continuous improvement by documenting best practices and refining</p><p>departmental policies.</p><p>Serve as a mentor and subject-matter expert, equipping the team with the skills needed for</p><p>career growth.</p><p>5. Process Improvement & Reporting</p><p>Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction trends, product availability, and industry</p><p>standards.</p><p>Administer CRM and Project Management software (e.g., Buildertrend) to track leads, change</p><p>orders, and project milestones.</p><p>Chair weekly operations meetings; produce and distribute key performance reports (e.g., margin</p><p>analysis, change-order turnaround times).</p><p>6. Cross-Functional Collaboration</p><p>Collaborate with Sales, Construction, Design, and Customer Care teams to align on schedules,</p><p>scopes, and deliverables.</p><p>Share client feedback and market insights to drive enhancements in service, pricing, and design</p><p>offerings.</p><p>Support marketing initiatives—open houses, project showcases, and community events—as</p><p>needed.</p><p><br></p><p>Qualifications:</p><p>Post-secondary diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field an asset</p><p>5+ years in an estimating role—ideally within residential renovations—with regular client</p><p>interaction.</p><p>Proven track record reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and change-</p><p>order documentation.</p><p>Leadership & Mentorship: Inspires and develops a high-performing team.</p><p>Customer-Focus: Champions client needs, ensuring a seamless renovation experience.</p><p>Communication: Articulates complex estimates, scopes, and budgets clearly—both written and</p><p>verbal.</p><p>Detail-Orientation: Rigorous about documentation, cost controls, and contract accuracy.</p><p>Critical Thinking: Proactively identifies risks, proposes alternatives, and solves problems under</p><p>pressure.</p><p>Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple projects and shifting</p><p>priorities.</p><p>Technology Savvy: Proficient with estimating software, Buildertrend (or equivalent), Microsoft</p><p>Office, and CRM tools</p><p>Strong negotiating experience with trades and suppliers; able to maintain and grow vendor</p><p>relationships.</p><p>Hands-on experience administering project management</p><p><br></p><p>We thank all candidates for showing interest in this role; however, only retained candidates will be contacted.</p><p>For more information on our recruitment service, please visit our website www.groomassocies.com</p>Browse Jobs in Canada by City
