<p><h3>5th Class Power Engineer – Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA)</h3>
<p>Posting End Date: October 30, 2025.
Permanent.
FTE: 1.0 On Call.
Anticipated shift: Days; Evenings; Weekends.
Location: Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.</p>
<h3>Position Overview</h3>
<p>Reporting to the Lead – Physical Plant Services, the Engineer 5th Class is responsible for monitoring and maintaining building and medical related systems and associated equipment in a 5th class plant. The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods, and actions on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health‑Santé Sud.</p>
<h3>Experience</h3>
<ul>
<li>Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in a maintenance position.</li>
<li>Previous experience working with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating, or air‑conditioning.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)</h3>
<ul>
<li>Power Engineering – 5th Class Certificate recognized by the Province of Manitoba.</li>
<li>Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Certification/Licensure/Registration</h3>
<p>Not Applicable.</p>
<h3>Qualifications And Skills</h3>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge and understanding of associated equipment and systems in a 5th class plant.</li>
<li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and equipment manuals.</li>
<li>Understanding of various types of mechanical equipment and their functions.</li>
<li>Knowledge of proper operation and maintenance of yard care equipment.</li>
<li>Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs.</li>
<li>Basic safe work legislation and practices.</li>
<li>Fire Codes and C.S.A. standards.</li>
<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Outlook.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to take initiative, provide a high level of attention to detail, work in a fast-paced environment, write and speak professionally, solve problems, exercise independent judgment, respect a culturally diverse population, prioritize tasks, build professional relationships, work independently or as part of a team, perform calculations, and maintain confidentiality.</li>
<li>Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Physical Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Meet the physical and mental demands of the job.</li>
<li>Work in a variety of temperatures, including excessive heat or cold.</li>
<li>May work with hazardous chemicals.</li>
<li>May be required on call evenings and weekends; respond to the facility within 20 minutes when on call.</li>
<li>May be required to travel to other regional facilities.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Additional Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Completes and maintains Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check.</li>
<li>Provide three work-related references from persons unrelated to the applicant but with knowledge of current and past performance.</li>
<li>Commitment to increase representation of Indigenous people within the workforce; Indigenous applicants encouraged to self-identify.</li>
<li>Acceptable English and French language skills per FLS Policy; may be considered for bilingual positions.</li>
</ul>
